Once again, and to the delight of the public, the Madeleine cloister opens its doors to a quality program thanks to L’Atelier des Arts du Noble Val. This year, we offer a new perspective on Shakespeare’s classic Twelfth Night with the Pants on Fire Theatre (late June), world music with Gérald Toto (late July), and the return of the virtuosos MZ Duo (mid‑September). We only have a capacity of 150 spectators, so it’s not too early to reserve your seats. L’Atelier des Arts du Noble Val also offers other concerts and performances at others venues. We invite you to consult their full program on their website.

After the sold‑out success of A Midsummer Night’s Dream last summer, the international company Pants on Fire Theatre returns to the Madeleine cloister with a new version of Shakespeare’s popular comedy of separated siblings, unrequited love, and, of course, mistaken identities.
Directed by Peter Bramley, this production is part of a growing tradition of Shakespearean performances in heritage sites, where the real setting becomes an integral part of the storytelling.
But this event isn’t just for English speakers. A summary for French speakers, with discreet illuminated signage to help them understand the performance’s structure, is planned. “This is not about expecting the French audience simply to adapt to a show in English. We wanted to create a welcoming, shared, and accessible event for everyone,” explains Peter Bramley.
The result is an experience where Shakespeare’s language blends with visual storytelling, music, movement, and the unique atmosphere of our historic setting.
“There is something deeply moving about hearing this four-hundred‑year‑old English text resonate in these extraordinary French historical spaces,” adds Bramley. “The architecture, the stone and brick, the gentle summer evening and the audience itself become elements of the story. It creates a true cultural meeting point.”
Renowned internationally for its inventive and visual ensemble theatre, Pants on Fire Theatre brings together artists from several countries for this production.

FRIDAY, JULY 24TH AT 9:00 P.M.: CONCERT BY GÉRALD TOTO (Accompanied by a live ikebana creation by JULE JAPHET)
Reserve your Gérald Toto tickets by clicking this link

Gérald Toto’s music unfolds in a richly atmospheric universe where styles and cultures converge, blending soul, folk, jazz and Afro‑Caribbean rhythms. Known for his warm, intimate voice and refined musicality, he creates soundscapes nourished by Creole influences and acoustic textures — music that is poetic, sensitive and subtly rhythmic, inviting the audience on a profoundly personal journey.
To accompany this musical experience, Jule Japhet will create live ikebana compositions on stage, allowing music and nature to unfold together throughout the concert.
As the performance unfolds, the Japanese art of floral arranging will take shape before the audience’s eyes, in dialogue with the rhythm and atmosphere of the music. This encounter between sound and natural form promises a unique sensory experience, where Gérald Toto’s poetic universe meets the calm beauty and balance of ikebana.

Renowned for their remarkable virtuosity and the freshness of their interpretations, the duo combines the expressive power of the saxophone with the rich sounds of the accordion in a program that effortlessly traverses masterpieces of the classical repertoire and contemporary creations.
Their concerts are distinguished not only for technical brilliance, but also by a rare musical sensitivity and a true dialogue between the two instruments.
Canadian saxophonist David Zucchi and Basque accordionist Iñigo Mikeleiz‑Berrade have already won over audiences in Albi: their previous concerts were met with enthusiastic acclaim. Their return to the Madeleine cloister is highly anticipated, and this September event offers a wonderful opportunity to hear these remarkable artists in a setting perfectly suited to the intimacy and richness of their music.
